WELCOME
TO THE 9th ELECTRONIC THENAPA NEWSLETTER
Message from the co-ordinators:
Thenapa
is disseminating its results and products all over Europe and even
over the world at an Olympic pace.
After the meeting in Sofia last November, many initiatives were
realised to give the highest possible exposure of the results and
products of our Thematic Network in all European countries.
The second edition of the two reports “Inclusion
and Integration through Adapted Physical Activity” and “Vocational
Training in Adapted Physical Activity” was finished and booklets
with the summaries of those two reports were published in order
to present the information in a accessible way to the broader public.
Our CD-ROM ‘ADAPT’ was presented and disseminated during
many national and international conferences.
During these conferences many Thenapa colleagues
reported about the THENAPA results: this was the case in Oxford,
Freiburg, Berlin, Oslo, Clermont -Ferrand, Krakow, Hamburg, Thessaloniki,
and during the Erasmus Mundus preparatory meetings in Norway, Ireland
and Czech Republic.
H. Van Coppenolle represented
THENAPA during the Dr. Honoris causa Award of Jacques Rogge, the
IOC President in Warsaw.
We were even invited in New Delhi to present ADAPT
and to discuss its translation in Hindu. Steps were made as well
for a Russian translation.
At the same time our network was successful in
trying to boost the dissemination process by applying to other European
projects as the European year of Education through Sport.
This project gave us the possibility to translate ‘ADAPT’
besides English, French and German, in 12 more languages.
In this project also a new website is developed.” Sports
participation for inclusion of persons with a disability in European
Countries
The
European Research Bulletin produced its third issue.
And the last good news from the European Commission
came some weeks ago, telling us that our proposal for our next Thematic
Network "Ageing and disability - a new crossing between physical
activity, social inclusion and life-long well-being" (THENAPA
II) has been approved. and will start on 1st of October 2004.
So we are convinced that all our THENAPA colleagues
deserve the Olympic Medal for dissemination. Congratulations.

ADAPT. A great interest was shown from colleagues from USA, Brazil,
Canada, Israel, South Korea.
Also the President of IPC Phil Craven, expressed his interest and
at the same time his great satisfaction of the product. It is our
