The Master's
The Advanced Master's of Orthodontics targets students who want to specialise in Orthodontics and deepen their knowledge in the multidisciplinary field of dental care. The master programme is combined with the part-time Post-graduate Certificate in Orthodontics that basically consists of the clinical training.{C}
My profile
Applicants have a special interest in working long-term with patients: children, adolescents as well as adults. They should be able to build up a positive relation with all these different age groups and thus possess good communication and motivational skills. Special interest in biological effects and biomechanics of the appliance treatment is essential.

Study programme
The academic programme, spread over four years (15 credits per year) involves theoretical courses, private study, preclinics and clinical demonstrations in the field of orthodontics. Participation in the clinical and laboratory scientific research programs is also part of the curriculum. The master test in the last year consists of 15 credits.

The Master of Orthodontics will provide insight into the specialised techniques and their scientific background in orthodontics. The evidence based and research oriented teaching, the multidisciplinary and integrated treatment planning and the comprehensive approach of patient treatment are characteristics of this Advanced Master's programme, which differentiates it from the initial master’s programme in Dentistry.
Career prospects
Graduates of the master in orthodontics can start as an independant orthodontist or they can become part of an existing practice.
