On Wednesday 21 November 2007 Rector Marc Vervenne and President Gu Binglin from Tsinghua University signed two bilateral agreements to enhance joint research projects and to exchange students. Several laboratories also concluded an agreement for common research. Cooperation covers a broad spectrum of research domains such as Medicine, Architecture, Economics and Engineering.

K.U.Leuven is very proud to have hosted the Tsinghua Delegation, headed by President Gu Binglin from 18 till 21 November 2007.
Twenty-four distinguished researchers visited Leuven, its research facilities, laboratories, spin-off companies and business partners. The visit resulted in an even better mutual understanding, leading to joint research projects of top level.
The visit was the follow up to the K.U.Leuven@Tsinghua week in April 2007, during which a Declaration of Intent was signed. At the end of this Tsinghua@K.U.Leuven event, the parties signed a Memorandum of Agreement.
