University Parish International Community
Are you looking for an international English-speaking faith community in Leuven? Would you like to meet people from the four corners of the world who share the same faith? Then you should come join us at UPIC, the University Parish International Community !
We celebrate the Eucharist every Sunday at 10:30 am in the Chapel of Justus Lipsius College, Minderbroedersstraat 15, Leuven. The liturgy is followed by a reception which offers the opportunity for people to meet informally. We publish a weekly bulletin entitled Bridges which is available at the Sunday liturgy. It contains reflections, news, and spiritual-theological insights. Sacraments (baptism, confirmation, first communion, reconciliation, marriage) are prepared and celebrated as community events.
The goal of our community is to welcome people from various parts of the world. We want to foster an open atmosphere where people from different backgrounds, cultures and countries, people of different age and walks of life, people affiliated with the university and people who have other affiliations can meet and share their faith.
Our vision is to build Christian community in a changing world.
Mission Statement:
As a Christian community we address ourselves to the spiritual needs of people from various parts of the world. While we mostly use English, we respect and acknowledge the languages and cultures of all participants. We are one of the communities within the University Parish of the K.U. Leuven together with the Dutch- and the French-speaking communities. Ways to participate:
As a community we invite full participation of our members through:
- actively joining the liturgical celebrations;
- singing together
- praying together
- participating in ad hoc committees
- participating in open community meetings
- joining the receptions
- taking responsibility for ministries or tasks
- contributing to our weekly bulletin Bridges
