Background
These multiple disadvantages present serious challenges to policy makers in designing effective ways to bring about a better future for the citizens of the region. Two main strategies have emerged as roads forward: regional cooperation and European integration. But policy makers and practitioners in the region will have to engage in an intensive process of negotiation and debate to steer a sustainable course to bring these visions into reality. The Winter School 2005 course is designed to explore the historical background, political methods, economic options and possible scenarios for the future, through a multi-disciplinary approach to the subject. The Coimbra Group Winter School 2005 will be taught in four modules, with an introductory module on Group Work. Each module lasts for 2 days, using a combination of lectures and seminars. The case study of Mostar forms the focal point for the entire course and experiences gained from it will feed into all modules. Between each module there will be half a day of leisure time. |
