Japanese Emperor visits KU Leuven and UCLouvain heritage collections
During his state visit to Belgium, Japanese Emperor Naruhito made a stop in Leuven to visit the University. Together with King Filip, the emperor highlighted the long-standing relationship between Leuven and Japan and explored a selection from the academic heritage of KU Leuven and UCLouvain.

600 years of KU Leuven
In 2025, we celebrated six centuries of wonder and curiosity. The year was packed with activities for young and old alike and kicked off with our festive weekend “KU Leuven Inside”. We organised an art and science trail, held a large-scale cantus for alumni and presented fascinating exhibitions on the past and present of our university.
We continue to write our history. Ready for a new century full of questions and answers, because knowledge knows no end.
