Seminars 2019 - Implementation Research

Implementation research: closing the gaps between scientific evidence, practice, and policy

The seminar is in English. Participation is free of charge. Please register.

To celebrate our 30th anniversary, LUCAS KU Leuven offers five consecutive seminars on ‘Implementation research: closing the gaps between scientific evidence, practice, and policy’.

Over the past thirty years, LUCAS KU Leuven has investigated innovation and evaluation of care and well-being for all, with a specific focus on people with mental health problems, people with dementia and homeless people.

LUCAS KU Leuven has major expertise in implementation research. Research questions not only concern the effectivity of interventions or programs in care, but also the preconditions for success in a real world context.

What facilitates or impedes the uptake of evidence-based practices? How can we develop evidence-based innovations in a way that they are feasible and acceptable for stakeholders in practice?

This type of research is by definition of an interdisciplinary nature, since a multitude of aspects of a psychological, social, economic, legal … will come into play. Participation of all stakeholders is also crucial, in order to draw a realistic picture of reality. To provide thorough answers to complex questions in policy and practice, hybrid research designs and a broad spectrum of research methods are applied.
